Too Many Religions

When in the office; I’m tuning-in to webstreaming DZXL 558 kHz Manila, “dahil iba ang timezone ko dito” at around 7:00-8:00PM(+3 GMT) , the radio aired the program” Ang Dating Daan” by Eli Soriano; it’s all about the beliefs of his religion. As I was listening to his question and answer portion, there I knew one Bible (as foundation of beliefs) but “too many religions. Growing up I was taught that the Catholic church was the “one true church”, after all we did have to recite that in one of the prayers at every mass. I have a cousin who flips out if she doesn’t get to mass on Sunday, she doesn’t pray and go to church, and dies, she’s bound for hell (that’s what I’ve heard through the family). When I was in the Manama, Bharain, I was involved in some Filipino-Bharainian community and one of my friends’s’-friend Nur, a sweet woman who I became friends with was an Islam. She told me about the ways of Islam, or Islamic beliefs and in essence only Muslim/religion Islam are headed to heaven.

Through my life I’ve tried most every religion, with the exception of mid-east religions as I never felt comfortable with them…just something inside me that didn’t feel compelled to try them. Confusing?? Yes! There are so many religions out there, so many varied beliefs it’s a wonder people say “phooey on religion”! I believe that there is only one true way to the afterlife. At the same time I’ve always wondered why so many religions exist and what attracts people to various religions, and even to Atheism. I wish there was a way that everyone could know that they’re headed to heaven or in hell.

The mIRC and Me

My IRC experience started on a network “Undernet” this was nine (9) years back, when this network really quite big. My first channels were #digos,#cotabato,#davao,#dabaw and got lot of friends there.

After a year of connecting Undernet, X and Y (services bots were DDoS attacked and lost.) the channels and services were bad, the reason I shifted to DALnet (DAL network). Whilst on this IRC Network I joined same channels (#digos, #cotabato, #kidapawan, and #davao) until I met nhiecolle, the founder of #bites who encourage me to learn and read mIRC scripts, and codes alike. At that time I started making friends, and fortunately I was chosen as one of the (@LouieX) operators in #digos channel with my IRC sponsor GirLie^Girl and KUYACHRIS.

In the late of 2002, DALNet IRC services crippled by DDoS(denial of services) attacks. It was difficult to connect the IRC server pool/hub, the assault has rendered many of the servers inoperable and had virtually closed network to normal use. But DALnet Administrators keep on protecting database, services/channels/and registered nicks. I moved to ChatX Network in 2003 where most of the users from Davao City and nearby cities. There I knew Net_surfer and mroman, mexican businessmen who own ISP (Internet Service Provider), they offered one (1) dedicated IP( internet protocol) to me for a server to be link in the ChatX network and few days eme-x.chatx.net was born with my initiative and help of these guys. My focus other than server config was of course learning scripts and other programming language. I extend thanks to some good mates from ChatX as well as IRC. I had strong links to the ChatX Administration as Exploits/K-Line Team Member until I found that mexican guys with TT-Quattro and Area51 (ChatX domain registrants) don’t have good, solid and firm policy so I decided to shutdown my server after a year.

In the mid of 2003, DALnet services was up again, admins and DAL staff enforce the change of network’s AUP(Acceptable Use Policy) that prohibit channels in file sharing or file transfer. Since then
I‘ve been in DALNet IRC for 9th years now and still kicking.

I have influences in a few channels on DaLnet, below are some that come to mind
• #nohack – exploit/virus help channel
• #coders - managed the channel (ChatX)
• #digos - SOP ( Successor and Co-Founder)
• #kidapawan – SOP

IRC is a kind of addiction, I’ve made friends in IRC, I met gf’s in IRC, I can leave, part or quit, but my fingers wont’.

IRC is my life. :))
